Showdown 38 Crows Or Power

Before I look at who I think will win Showdown I reckon I should look at how the Crows and Port Power did in round four. If you read my last post on the SportsBet bonus bet offer you know that I backed Port Power to beat Hawthorn. That’s even though the Hawks were the favourite to win.

Port Power vs Hawthorn Results

I don’t know why I backed Port Power, but I’m glad I did. Perhaps it was because I was using Sportsbet free bet offer and it didn’t really matter if I lost. Either way I backed them and I won. Will they have it in them though to beat the Crows in Showdown 38?

I’ve spoken to several Port Power fans and they’re so jubilant about the win and they are confident they will beat the Crows in this weeks Showdown. I’m not so sure. I watched the Port Power – Hawks game and they dominated in the first half. Lucky for them to because their huge lead was the only thing that saved them. The Hawks came back in the second half. This is even though they had two good player taken off half way through the game due to injuries. Namely, key defender Brian Lake and Paul Puopolo.

Yeah, sure a win is a win but to throw away a commanding lead like that can’t be a good thing. They need to fix their second half game if they’re going to be finals contenders.

Adelaide Crows vs Western Bulldogs Results

Adelaide Crows Western Bulldogs results

I’ll be the first to say it, the Adelaide Crows played like shit. Unless they improve their game they’re not going to win this weeks Showdown. And I’d hate it if they didn’t put Port Power in their place. They came back a little in the final quarter but it was too bloody little to damn late.

So, why did the Crows perform so dismally? There’s no doubt that the Crows were out played but I’m wondering why the hell they were so layback? Especially after playing so well in the first three rounds. Is it because they thought the Western Bulldogs would be a pushover and just weren’t prepared for the type of contest that confronted them? To tell you the truth, I don’t really care what the reason was. As long as they pull their finger out for Showdown 38.

Showdown 38 Go The Crows

Showdown 38

As to who’s going to win the next Showdown? I’m not as arrogant as those Power supporters who are already counting it as a done deal. I know that when it comes to Showdowns it’s anyones game. One thing I do know is that both the Crows and the Power are going for broke, like they do for all Showdowns. That why Showdowns are so popular, and this one won’t be any different.

If you have anything to say about the performance of either Port Power or the Adelaide Crows why not leave a comment. Who do you think will win Showdown 38? Me, I’m putting my money on the Crows.

Fickle Lady Luck Gets It Wrong

This post just goes to show just how Fickle Lady Luck can be. In my last post I wrote about how good old fickle Lady Luck gave her approval for me to bet on the Port Power / Fremantle game. I did that rather than betting on the Crows because it offered better odds. I should have known better. Not only did Port Power lose to Fremantle but the Adelaide Crows absolutely killed North Melbourne.

Fickle Lady Luck A Lesson Learned

Fickle Lady Luck

But I’m not pissed about losing because that game was pretty exciting, and the small wager I placed on it made it even more interesting. Then I got to thinking. Maybe Fickle Lady Luck wasn’t so fickle after all. Maybe she was telling me not to chase the match with the best odds but to follow the match where my heart was. After all she knows how much I love the Crows right?

If I had backed the Crows, I wouldn’t have won much, compared to the Port Power vs Fremantle match, but at least I would have won something. I mean, that was a brilliant game, one that put the Crows at the top of the ladder at the beginning of the season. Yeah I know they won’t stay there for long but at least they got there.  :tongue_out:

The good thing is that at least I kept to my responsible gambling rule and didn’t bet more than I can afford to lose. Doing that not only can affect me financially it would also put too much pressure on the outcome turning an exciting experience into a stressful one.

Speaking of the Crows, the AFL site’s writeup is called Walker Inspired Crows Crush Sluggish Roos. And I have to admit Walker did well, but he was’t the only one. I loved how most of the players performed including Sloane and Betts. At least that is one under Phil Walsh’s belt.

As for the Power / Fremantle game, nobody can argue that it wasn’t a thrilling game, because it was. I found that Fox Sports article to be a good one.

How did you go this weekend? Did you manage to pick a few winners? What did you think of the way Adelaide (Crows and Power) performed in the first game of the AFL season?

Getting The Best Odds

Getting The Best Odds Means Getting In Early

getting the best oddsUsually the way to get the best odds when placing a bet online is to place your bet as early as possible. Take for example the post I did on Betting On The AFL Finals. I posted that a little over a week ago. All the odds offered on SportingBet, as well as the other online bookies, have dropped. Some by as much as 50%.

As far as I know getting the best odds usually happens the further away from the outcome of any given match. I was talking about this with a workmate of mine and he says he places several of his bets at the beginning of the AFL season. A great bloke except for the fact that he’s a Port Power fan.

Speaking of Port Power you may well remember they were last weeks bet of the week. That was actually the post where I spoke a little about the history of the Crows and Power rivalry. You may well recall that I backed Port to win, but only because lately I’ve been losing my bets and I was hoping that placing a bet on them would bring them bad luck. Nope, as it turns out the Power was really switched on in that game and they won. That was never supposed to happen. Fremantle were the favourites and it’s been ages since they lost a home game. That bet on the Power was just to seal the deal.

Still, shit happens. Just about everyone I know was tipping Freo, but like I said in that post about sports betting tips, they’re absolute bullshit. You just never ever know who’s going to win any given game. That’s why we have so many upsets in sport. One last thing before getting to my bet of the week. You may well notice the odds changing the closer you get to the game. Usually getting the best odds means placing your bets as early as possible.

Bet Of The Week

This week Port Power is playing Hawthorne at the MCG. They shouldn’t win this game. Then again they should’ve lost against Fremantle as well. I just don’t have a choice. I have to back the Power again. Maybe this time my bet come good and Port will lose.  :tongue_out: Seeing as how bet365 was lucky for me last week I’m gonna give Sportingbet a go. Maybe they will pass on some bad vibes for all those louse Port Power fans.
