Adelaide Crows Crowns Taylor Walker As Captain

Taylor Walker Adelaide Crows New Captain

Taylor Walker Crows Captain

It seems that one of the first things that Phil Walsh has done since becoming the Crows coach is to make Taylor Walker the new Captain. Now, I like Walker but I’m not sure that making him captain over Patrick Dangerfield is the right move. I’m pretty sure that Patrick, and a lot of the other players, thought that Patrick would be the one to captain the Crows in 2015.

I don’t think that anyone would disagree with the fact that Dangerfield is an important player and that he would be sorely missed. Considering that his contract comes up at the end of the year one would have thought that perhaps making him captain instead of Taylor Walker would get him to commit himself to the Crows. But then maybe the fact that he’s not prepared to commit himself is the very reason that Phil Walsh decided to to crown Taylor Walker as captain.

One only hopes that Patrick Dangerfield is professional enough not to let the decision affect his game this season. I don’t think that Patrick is the sort to let this affect his football. I’m sure he will do the right thing by the Crows and that he and the rest of the team will work well under Taylor Walker.

I still wonder why Phil Walsh decided on Taylor Walker to captain the Crows. After reading the article in The Age I got the impression that Walsh chose him because he was a country boy and that would make a great story.

“This is a great story … a boy from Broken Hill now the captain of the Adelaide footy club. He always puts team first and he consistently meets elite standards, but most importantly, Tex influences others to follow him in the direction I want this club to go. He’s a competitor who desperately chases success – all qualities I want from every Crows player when they put the jumper on this year.

“It is a lot harder for country guys, so I like these sort of stories. One thing I love about playing in the country … the whole town would travel to watch you play footy. It’s a bit like a village brings a boy up, and I think we have lost a little bit of that as a society.

“I love the story, Broken Hill lad identified by Mark Ross at a carnival, came down here, took a while to adjust and now he is the leader of the footy club. The message for any young boys out there is to believe in your dream and chase it as hard as you can because you might up one day end up like Taylor Walker.”

So, part PR and part country boy’s will to succeed pulling the rest of the players to victory. Shit. as a Crows supporter I certainly hope this is the case.

What do you guys think? Do you think that Taylor Walker will make a great captain? Will the players follow his lead or would you have preferred that the captaincy was given to Patrick Dangerfield?

Melbourne Darts Tournament An Embarrassment

Melbourne Darts Tournament Turns Sour

Melbourne darts tournamentI wrote about a major Darts Tournament that was held in Blackpool and that particular one went a hell of a lot better than the Melbourne Darts Tournament. The Melbourne Darts Tournament was held at Etihad Stadium. It went for two days and unfortunately all hell broke loose on the last day of the Melbourne darts tournament.

One has to asked why things got as bad as it did. Was it because there wasn’t enough security? According to this article they had 70 security guards on hand at the event. One has to wonder if they got on top of things at the beginning that it wouldn’t have got to the stage that it did.

Why didn’t they clamp down on whoever it was that cast the first chair? Were they just too far away? Maybe 70 security guards wasn’t enough.

Was it because they didn’t control the amount of beer that was served? Apparently most of the wankers involved were drunk.

I’m not sure how much a ticket to such an event was worth, maybe someone could let us know, but if you’re not into darts then why would you even bother going to such an event?

Was it because the event was held in Victoria? Maybe some of those Vics just don’t know how to behave at such an event. They sure as hell knew how to spoil it for those that actually wanted to see the pros throwing darts.

That many were thrilled by the Melbourne Darts Tournament was evident by the all the positive reviews at the tecketmaster website.I posted one of the many reviews below.

Melbourne Darts Tournament Review

The Guardian reports that the future of further Melbourne Darts Tournaments could be in doubt because of the reaction of some dickheads in the crowd, Not really fair that the reaction of a few can ruin it for the rest of dart tournament lovers.

Interesting Sports News

Now that Christmas is over and done with, and I hope you had a really nice Christmas, I thought I would hunt around the net to see what interesting sports news I could come up with.

Post Christmas Interesting Sports News

Interesting sports news James RodriguezThe first bit of interesting sports news I came across involved Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez. This particular bit of news had absolutely nothing to do with James Rodriquez soccer prowess either. Nope this interesting sports news titbit has all to do with him launching his own underwear collection.

Apparently he is not the first one to release his version of underwear either. You can head on over to the CNN article, the above link, to see what other stars have released. Even though the article says that these sports stars underwear are a big hit for Christmas I personally can’t think of anything worse to get for Christmas.

Seems to me that good old James here has a pretty good six pack, If any of the ladies out there would like me to do a Hot Sports Hunk post on James Rodriguez all they need do is leave a comment, or drop me an email using the contact link in the menu above.

The next bit of interesting sports news revolves around soccer as well. It seams that these professional soccer players still have a lot to learn when it comes to headbutting. Some seem to forget in the heat of the moment that headbutting just isn’t allowed. The latest headbutting incident, as reported by the Huffington Post involved Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud. Giroud headbutts Nedum Onuoha for a push in the back. The post has video showing the headbutting incident but I reckon the one that I found is heaps better.

Olivier Giroud Red Carded For Headbutting Incident

I don’t know about you but that headbutt looked a little soft. Sort of makes you wonder if the recipient went down a little too easily. Still, I suppose you had to be there to really feel the pain. 😉

Camel Racing An Interesting Sports News

interesting sports news camel robot jockeyI found this next really, really interesting sports news story at the New York Times! It’s all to do with camel racing. The story takes place at Abu Dhabi in the United Emirates. Camel racing is a sport that has been hundreds of years dating back as far back as the seventh century,

As in all racing weight is an important factor and so it is with camel racing. Camel racing has for some time got a really bad rap because it used to involve the kidnapping of young kids, as young as 2 or 3 to be used as jockeys. The article reports that at one stage an estimated 40,000 child jockeys were being used in the Persian Gulf!

Not today though. Nope now the Arabian jockeys have gone high tech. They’re now using robots as jockeys! You can see one over there on the left. The beauty about these babies is they only weigh a few pounds. Yeah, you guessed it, the DeWalt is the robots major component. Yeah, I know, you want to see a camel race in action. You also know I’m not one to disappoint.

Hi Tech Camel Race

That’s it folks, those are my top three interesting sports news!
