Winning Bets A Plan That Comes Together

One of my favourite shows on TV would have to beĀ The A Team. My favourite A Team member is definitely Hannibal Smith. My favourite quote of the series is Hannibal’s “I love it when a plan comes together!” That’s the kind of feeling I get when I get one of those infrequent winning bets.

Speaking of winning bets, that’s exactly what I got when I backed the Crows vs Nth. Melbourne game on the weekend. Too bad they didn’t televise the game because I reckon I would have really enjoyed it. Even though the Crows let Nth Melbourne erode what was a really good lead in that last quarter.

Winning Bets And Responsible Gambling

winning bets

As you can see from the image above I won a whole $6.40. Not a huge amount I know, but considering my stake was only $10t that’s a 64% return. Sounds a lot better now doesn’t it. Some may be thinking that a $100 stake would have returned $64! While that it true one has to remember that any bet is a gamble and there is never a guarantee of winning.

That’s what responsible gambling is all about. Even though Lady Luck gave me a thumbs up it could have gone the other way. If it did I would have lost $100 instead of just $10. That’s my betting budget for over two months. Shit, I may have even doubled the wager on my next bet to try and get my money back. I could have lost that as well and then bet even more trying to recover my losses. That’s exactly how problem gambling starts and I’m not heading that route. And neither should you!

While winning bets are a good thing you should never let the euphoria of those winning bets get the better of you. Just because you last wager was one of those winning bets there’s no guarantee that the next one will be. Stick to your responsible gambling plan and you’re bound to get a lot more out of your betting strategy. Even when you lose. Why? Because you’re never betting more than you can afford to lose.

Sports Betting Strategy Gone Wrong

Man, what a shit weekend that turned out to be as far as my sports betting strategy went. In my defence I didn’t really have a sports betting strategy when placing my sports bets online. Except for one game I bet on all long shots. If you recall my Bet365 Free Bet Update post I included the 5 bets I placed for my bet of the week. I know it was a lot more than I normally place on sports bets but that post explains the reason for that.

Unfortunately all those bets turned out to be losing bets but the only one that really pissed me off was the Adelaide

Crows vs North Melbourne Betting Strategy

betting strategy

Like I was saying at the beginning of the post I didn’t really have a betting strategy. I reckon if I did I would have done a whole lot better. Problem is, and I’m being totally honest here, I don’t believe I’ll ever have a betting strategy. The reason being because that means doing a whole lot of research. Research means work and I do enough of that as it is. I want my sports betting to be work free and that means placing sports bets by the seat of my pants. So far, apart from last week, I’ve been holding my own.

I watched the Crows / North Melbourne game with my son Frank. I could see he wasn’t enjoying the game. I know I was. I mean it was a really close game, the lead changing at least 6 times. I asked him why and he said there wasn’t any really good tackles or screamers or anything. I reckon the reason I got more of a kick out of it was because I had placed a sports bet on the game. That made the game that much more exiting.

The reason I’m pissed about the result was because the Crows could have won that game. They didn’t because of all the stupid and careless mistakes they had made inside North Melbourne’s 50 metres. Shit! They virtually gave away at least 5 goals from careless mistakes. When you consider they only lost by 10 points those dumb ass mistakes cost them the game.

So, tell me guys! Am I the only one that thinks the Crows should have one that game?

Aslo, in regards to a sports betting strategy. Do any of you guys have one? If you do, perhaps you’d like to share some of it with the rest of us.

Long Shot Bet Of The Week

Every now and again a punter just has to have a go at a long shot. A long shot is when a gambler punter decides to place a bet on a horse, team or sport outcome that hasn’t a hope in hell of winning. You can usually tell when a betting opportunity is considered a long shot.

Long Shot AFL Round 21

.

When deciding about this weeks bet of the week I wondered whether or not I should be placing some money on a long shot. So I fire up my Sportingbet app, went to the sports section, Aussie Rules and then AFL Round 21. It didn’t take long to find that the AFL round 21 long shot was the Sydney vs St Kilda game. That particular game will kick off at the SCG on Saturday August the 16th at 1:45pm. So, how much was I going to place on St Kilda to beat Sydney. As you can see from the image below, if you can take your eyes of the sexy blonde long enough šŸ˜€ not all that much.

The odds on St Kilda to beat Sydney, at the time I placed the bet, was $17.00. So, if a miracle was going to result in a St. Kilda win my dollar bet would result in a $17 win! As far as I’m concerned there’s not a chance in hell that St. Kilda will beat Sydney, but then upsets have been known to happen and if it does that will be my biggest win ever. Especially considering the minimal outlay.

Long Shot bet of the week

OK, so I got that long shot bet out of the way, which is really a fun bet more than anything else, now it’s time for some serious online sports betting. My main bet is going to be on the Adelaide vs Richmond game which is being played at theĀ Adelaide Oval on Saturday August 16 at 7.10pm.

After the Crows win against the Brisbane Lions, last weeks Bet Of The Week, I’ve decided to let the money ride on my favourite AFL team, the Adelaide Crows. That last win got them back into the eight and I know their going to do their best to stay there. Not only that, they have to do well if they’re going to appease their fans, especially because they’re playing at home. I know their 19th Man will do all they can to get their team across the line too. They’re going to scream their lungs horse and woe be those umpires that make those dumb arse calls. If they do that, and they will, the fans will boo there sorry arse right out of Adelaide Oval.

Over to you now. Have you ever bet on a long shot that paid off? IF so leave us a comment, we’d love to hear from you.

But before you go, what do you say about basking in a little Crows glory as they win the last Showdown. They said it couldn’t be done but I backed the boys and I won. Go The Crows!
