2017 AFL Finals Tips Week 1

Are you ready for the 2017 AFL Finals Tips Week 1? I’ve decided to post the 2017 AFL Finals Tips Week 1 this week even though its a bye week and the finals won’t actually start until next week. I figured may as well considering as how Fortuna had already dropped them off. Who knows, maybe she wanted to get the 2017 AFL Finals Tips Week 1 out of the way because she’s got something else on?

Fortuna’s 2017 AFL Finals Tips Week 1

2017 AFL Finals Tips Week 1

  • Adelaide Crows vs GWS Giants (Adelaide)
  • Geelong vs Richmond (SGC)
  • Port Power vs West Coast (Adelaide)
  • Sydney vs Essendon (SCG)

I’m so excited that Finals footy is finally here. It’s especially exciting because the Adelaide Crows have finished on top of the ladder. The question is whether or not they can actually manage to win the 2017 AFL grand final.

It’s been 19 years since the Crows winning back to back premierships in 1998. This weeks marks the Crows 30th finals. Check out this post for a complete history of the Crows finals attempts.

But enough of that! It’s time to have a look at which of my favourite sports betting sites is offering the best AFL finals odds. For those of you new to ezesportsabetting I recommend and use SportsbetWilliam Hill and Bet365. Being a member of three of the top sports betting sites allows me to always get the best odds as well as taking advantage of the many online sports betting specials they have on offer.

Looking at those odds and Fortuna’s finals tips for week one I’ve decided to put my money on West Coast to beat Port Power. Why? Well, for the life of me I can’t work out why Port Power are the favourites. If you read my last post you know that I hinted at the Power having a hard time of winning against West Coast.

I just have a funny feeling about this game. Usually if I back Port Power they go and stuff me up by losing. This time I’ve going with my gut and going along with Fortuna’s tips and backing the Eagles. Besides, those odds are pretty good too.

As far as sports betting sites go, I’m going with Sportsbet because of the Sportsbet 24 Up, You Win promotion.

Too bad the Sportsbet Million dollar tipping competition is over for this year, at least for the AFL. You can still try your luck with the NRL Sportsbet Million Dollar Tipping competition.

Who, are you going to back in the up and coming week one of the AFL finals? As for me, you can see my bet here.

AFL Preliminary Finals 2016 Tips

How many folk out there were surprised by last weeks fight for the 2016 AFL Finals results? The only one that really surprised me was that the Doggies beat the Hawks. I’m sure no-one was more surprised than  the Hawks?

As for the Sydney vs Adelaide game, as much as I wanted the Crows to win the Swans were just to good for them. It wouldn’t have been so bad if the Crows had put up a half decent fight but one quarter of finals football just isn’t good enough.

Of the two matches I reckon the Bulldogs vs Hawthorn one was the most exciting. That is what football finals is all about. I’m sad to say that the Crows effort was just not finals material.

As for the betting, if you read my last post you would know that I lucked out on both games.

Talking about a really hot post, you should definitely check out my Kiira Korbi Hot Sports Babe post. :drunk:

AFL Preliminary Finals 2016 Tips

Fortuna AFL Preliminary Finals 2016 TipsEnough of last weeks footy, now it’s time to look forward and see what Fortuna has in store for us. It’s time to check out Fortuna’s AFL Preliminary Finals 2016 Tips

  • GWS Giants vs Western Bulldogs (Spotless)
  • Geelong vs Sydney (MCG)

Once again Fortuna would like to stress to everybody that betting on finals footy should always be done responsibly. Unless you can afford to lose the bet don’t bet at all. Finals or not you should never bet more than you can lose.

Naturally, before anyone can place a bet on this weeks AFL Preliminary Finals tips we need to check out who has the best odds.

Now that I have the best odds I’ve decided to back the Western Bulldogs with Sportsbet. This is partly because they’re offering great odd but mainly because of their cashback offer. This is their AFL finals cashback offer where you get your money back, up to $50, if you team loses my 18 points or less.

Sure, that hasn’t paid off for me yet because the losses have all been more than that, but I reckon I have to be lucky once, right. :pull_hair:  😉

Anyway, I reckon the Doggies have what it takes to pull it off. Especially after putting the Hawks away.

As always, you can see proof of my wager by clicking here.

Hawthorn AFL Grand Final Winners

It’s all over. The 2015 AFL season Hawthorn is once again the AFL Grand Final Winners. That’s an AFL Grand Final winning hat trick. Pretty good really, but it got me to wondering if anyone else has performed that feat. Heck I was pretty proud when the Crows won back to back in 1997 and 1998! After a bit of research I found out that this wasn’t the first time in AFL history where an AFL team had won three premierships in a row.

Consecutive VFL/AFL Grand Final Winners

Imagine my surprise upon discovering that Collingwood actually won 4 Premierships in a row, way back in 1927, 1928, 1929, 1930! Here’s a list of other multiple Grand Final Winners.

  1. Carlton: 1906, 1907, 1908
  2. Melbourne: 1939, 1940, 1941
  3. Melbourne: 1955, 1956, 1957
  4. Brisbane Lions: 2001, 2002, 2003
  5. Hawthorne: 2013, 2014, 2015
  6. Fitzroy: 1898, 1899
  7. Collingwood: 1902, 1903
  8. Fitzroy: 1904, 1905
  9. Essendon: 1911, 1912
  10. Carlton: 1914, 1915
  11. Richmond: 1920, 1921
  12. Essendon: 1923, 1924
  13. Collingwood: 1935, 1936
  14. Essendon: 1949, 1950
  15. Geelong: 1951, 1952
  16. Melbourne: 1959, 1960
  17. Richmond: 1973, 1974
  18. Carlton: 1981, 1982
  19. Essendon: 1984, 1985
  20. Hawthorn: 1988, 1989
  21. Adelaide: 1997, 1998

Collingwood’s made the multiple AFL Grand Final winners list three times and is the only one to win 4 in a row. Essendon has won back to back on four occasions.

If we were to say that the AFL came into being in 1990 then the only AFL Grand Final Winners of note would be Brisbane Lions and Hawthorne for winning three in a row. What’s really cool is that the Adelaide Crows were the first and only back to back winners in that time period.  :drunk:

AFL Grand Final Winners

So while Hawthorn hasn’t been the first consecutive AFL Grand Final Winners one has to wonder whether or not they can do it again. There are some who believe that if the ‘Free Agency’ rules continue to apply then Hawthorn’s dominance in the AFL will continue as good players continue to vie to become Hawks. If true then something needs to be done otherwise Grand Finals fever will dwindle as one club continues to dominate over all others.

As for me, although I really wanted West Coast to win I can’t complain because I followed Fortuna’s advice and backed Hawthorn which resulted in another winning bet!  :clap2:
