Round 8 Footy Tips Results

I don’t know about you but I think that round 8 of this AFL season was a weird one. Some of the teams I was sure was going to win didn’t and obviously those teams that did win was a bit of surprise. Let’s have a look at the round 8 footy tips results.

Fortuna’s Round 8 Footy Tips Results

Fortuna round 8 footy tips results

As you can see from the image above Fortuna’s round 8 footy tips results was still pretty good. She only got three of her tips wrong. One was the Adelaide vs GWS Giants game. Even though I was hopeful that Adelaide would win it was always going to be a tough game. I know most people would have picked GWS but I figured Fortuna has something up her sleeve. The again, Fortuna doesn’t wear sleeves.  :tongue_out:

The second game was the Hawthorn vs Sydney game. Talk about upsets! I was sure that Hawthorne would have wiped the oval with Sydney but it turns out Sydney had different ideas. That’s the thing with sports betting, you can never really know how a game will turn out. That’s what makes responsible gambling so important.

Finally we have the Melbourne vs Western Bulldogs game. Again I’m sure most AFL fans would have picked the Western Bulldogs for their round 8 footy tips. Hopefully not too many of them would have placed money on that game, unless it was on Melbourne. That’s what makes responsible gambling so important.

Round 8 MultiBet Results

The problem with getting your footy tips wrong means it will probably screw with you MultiBet. Looking at my MultiBet for round 8 you’ll notice I got Adelaide, Hawthorne and Western Bulldogs wrong.

  • Geelong $1.23
  • West Coast $1.20
  • Adelaide $2.65
  • Hawthorn $1.50
  • Western Bulldogs $1.40
  • Richmond $3.50

Luckily my winning teams paid out $5.93. Add to that my cash out value of 79c brings my wins to $6.72, or a loss of $3.18. That’s why I like Multibet so much. Even when you lose you still come out with something. If I cashed out earlier my cash out value would have been close to $5 making it a winning bet. Unfortunately I was at work and someone started pissing me in my ear causing me to miss out.

MultiBet Cash Out Tip! You multi-bet cash out is higher if the team you’ve bet on is in front or closing the gap. You just have to love Sportsbet‘s MultiBet cash out feature.

How did you go with your round 8 footy tips?

AFL Round 5 Results

I reckon its time to have a look at the AFL Round 5 results as far as Fortuna’s AFL footy tips are concerned.

AFL Round 5 Results Footy Tips & MultiBet Results

AFL Round 5 Results Footy Tips
If you read my Fortuna’s AFL Footy Tips Round 5 post you’d know that those teams in read were the teams I MultiBet Results Sportsbetselected against Fortuna’s advice. If I had followed Fortuna’s advice I would have got 8 right instead of only 5. What a bummer!  :bash:

Oh well, I suppose 5 out of 9 isn’t all that bad.

My MultiBet Results

That post also spoke about the MultiBet that I placed with Sportsbet. For those of you who haven’t read that post I backed Sydney, Hawthorn, West Coast, Fremantle, Essendon and Adelaide to beat Port Power.

You can see the results of my MultiBet there on the right. Yep, unlike most online sports betting sites out there I actually do place bets on various sports games.

You can see at the top of the list that my MultiBet was a total bust. That’s because I backed Sydney to win. Who the hell would have thought that Western Bulldogs would actually beat Sydney. I reckon that would have to be the upset of the AFL round 5 results.

The only other one that I got wrong, and I was probably pretty stupid to pick them, was the Adelaide Crows. Still, I honestly thought that they could have won that, and they could’ve too if they’re kicking accuracy was better. Still, at the end of the day, even though some of the umpiring sucked big time, and I hate to say this, Port Powers was the better team and deserved to win Showdown 38!

What I like about MultiBets is that even though you may lose the main bet you still get something for the rest of your winning bets. So, all in all it wasn’t a total loss as I still won $5.34.

AFL Round 5 Highlights

Interesting highlights that came about in round 5 of the AFL include;

  1. Hawks Hodge To Front Tribunal: That match could cost Hawthorn a couple of good players which would probably affect the outcome of future games.
  2. Talking Points Bulldogs vs Swans: Even the Bulldogs themselves admitted they probably wouldn’t have won if it wasn’t for ‘uncharacteristic Swans mistakes’ that proved costly. Sure they’re going to take the win but they’re not going to let it go to their heads.
  3. Showdown 38 Highlights: Personally I put their loss down to their poor kicking and not using the corridor well enough to get the ball down for some decent scoring shots. Man of the game would have to be Eddie Betts.
  4. Richmond vs Geelong match Preview: I reckon this one was another upset that surprised a lot of punters.

You may notice in my MultiBet that apart from the Adelaide Power game I didn’t back any of the questionable match-ups which is why 4 out of my 6 bets paid off.

Something you may be interested in is that throughout the Adelaide Crows Port Power game I check out SportsBet Cash Out feature and I was able to cash out right up to the beginning of the final quarter.

Fickle Lady Luck Gets It Wrong

This post just goes to show just how Fickle Lady Luck can be. In my last post I wrote about how good old fickle Lady Luck gave her approval for me to bet on the Port Power / Fremantle game. I did that rather than betting on the Crows because it offered better odds. I should have known better. Not only did Port Power lose to Fremantle but the Adelaide Crows absolutely killed North Melbourne.

Fickle Lady Luck A Lesson Learned

Fickle Lady Luck

But I’m not pissed about losing because that game was pretty exciting, and the small wager I placed on it made it even more interesting. Then I got to thinking. Maybe Fickle Lady Luck wasn’t so fickle after all. Maybe she was telling me not to chase the match with the best odds but to follow the match where my heart was. After all she knows how much I love the Crows right?

If I had backed the Crows, I wouldn’t have won much, compared to the Port Power vs Fremantle match, but at least I would have won something. I mean, that was a brilliant game, one that put the Crows at the top of the ladder at the beginning of the season. Yeah I know they won’t stay there for long but at least they got there.  :tongue_out:

The good thing is that at least I kept to my responsible gambling rule and didn’t bet more than I can afford to lose. Doing that not only can affect me financially it would also put too much pressure on the outcome turning an exciting experience into a stressful one.

Speaking of the Crows, the AFL site’s writeup is called Walker Inspired Crows Crush Sluggish Roos. And I have to admit Walker did well, but he was’t the only one. I loved how most of the players performed including Sloane and Betts. At least that is one under Phil Walsh’s belt.

As for the Power / Fremantle game, nobody can argue that it wasn’t a thrilling game, because it was. I found that Fox Sports article to be a good one.

How did you go this weekend? Did you manage to pick a few winners? What did you think of the way Adelaide (Crows and Power) performed in the first game of the AFL season?
