Big Bash Winners 2015

Big Bash Winners 2015 Perth Scorchers

Did you watch the Big Bash 2015 finals between the Perth Scorchers and the Sydney Sixers? Was that a nail biter or what? You may remember that in my last post I mentioned that the Sydney Sixers would be the Big Bash winners for 2015. They based this on the fact they had the home ground advantage. Even though they played in Canberra and not Sydney.

I also mentioned that the Adelaide Strikers had home ground advantage which sure as heck didn’t do them any good.

I don’t know why, but even though Fortuna warned me against placing a bet on that match, and she’s had a pretty good record so far, I followed my gut feeling a backed the Perth Scorchers.

As it turns out it was the Perth Scorchers who were this years Big Bash winners. That being the case it was my first win with Sportsbet which makes the win that much more sweeter for me.

Final Moments For Big Bash Winners

I have to admit I had my heart in my mouth when Brett Lee bowls Coulter Nile with the scores tied. That left only one run to win off of two balls! Then Whiteman is bowled out for a duck. The crowds go wild and my heart virtually stops. Scorchers still need one run to win and there was only one ball left. Can Lee do the impossible and get a hat-trick from three balls?

Arafat takes Whiteman’s place and I can only imagine the pressure he would have been under. It was a do or die last ball effort. Arafat hits the balls and they make a dash for the opposing wickets. The fielders had all closed in and the ball was stopped and thrown at the wicket. Arafat slides and just managed to beat the ball, which was dropped by a fielder. Looks like they were under just as much pressure as the batsman was.

As it turns out the Perth Scorchers are now the 2015 Big Bash Winners and I won my first bet with Sportsbet.

As for the man of the match, as far as the Perth Scorchers are concerned I would say it would have to be Shaun Marsh who scored 73 off 59 balls.

Improving Your Odds On A Sports-Bet

Improving Your Odds A Simple How To

I’ve found there are times when the odds you get on any given sports just aren’t up to scratch. That’s when I looked at a way for improving your odds on any given sports-bet. This improving your odds tip probably won’t work on every sports bet but it can work well when placing a bet on a soccer game. Just like it did on the Adelaide United vs Western Sydney Wanderers. The results of that particular improving your odds example can be seen in the image below.

improving your odds

I could have placed the whole $10 wager on Adelaide United to win but at 1.75 that would only have returned $17.50. That’s a $7.50 return.

So, instead I placed $8 on a win. I then placed a buck on Adelaide United scoring 2 goals and another buck on them scoring 3 goals. I figured they were the more likely outcomes.

As it turns out Adelaide United won with a score of 2-0 and my total winnings $22 which was a $12 return. That just happens to be a greater than 50% return than if I just put a bet on Adelaide United to win. I reckon that shows this technique to be a pretty good way of improving your sports bet. My odds went from 1.75 to 2.2. It would have been a lot better if Adelaide United scored another goal. And they should of too but they missed so many bloody times.

Of course it could just as easily have gone the other way. They could have scored 4 or more goals or remained goalless which would not have resulted in any odds improvement at all. Or they could have lost the game altogether which would have resulted in a losing bet. But then that’s the risk you take when you decide to place a bet on your favourite sports.

This isn’t a problem if you’re like me and only place a small wager on a game in order to increase the excitement value of the game you’re watching.

Bet365 Wins Again

Bet365 Wins A Winning Bet

Yep, Bet365 wins for me again! You may remember my last post, where I went against Lady Luck’s advice and placed a bet on the the Adelaide United vs Melbourne Victory game last week? I was going to place a bet on Adelaide United to win but because Lady Luck told me not to place a bet and I really, really wanted to bet on that game I did the only thing I could do in that situation. I placed a $5 wager on Adelaide United to win and a $7 wager on Melbourne Victory to win. The only way I could lose was if it was a drawer. And we all know how easily that can happen when soccer is concerned.

bet365 win

As it turns out Melbourne Victory won which payed out $15.40! As my total stakes on the game was $12 I won a huge $3.40.  :tongue_out: So, all in all another bet365 winning bet.

Yeah, I know it doesn’t sound like much but it’s still almost a 30% return. I’m not getting that sort of return at any of the banks. Too bad I can’t turn all my bets into a winning bet. But you know me, as much as I like winning I love the extra excitement I get from sport when I’ve placed a bet on a match, race or something.

Melbourne Victory vs Adelaide United Results

As it turns out Melbourne Victory beat Adelaide United 3-2. You can go to the A-League site to read the highlights of the match. Personally I found the game to be quite frustrating. Especially because we gave away two own goals. If it wasn’t for those goals Adelaide United actually would have won.

The highlight of the match for me was watching Kevin Muscat lose his cool, kicking the crap out of something that was within reach of his foot.  :RLOL:

Overall I reckon that Adelaide United played better and they deserved to win. And they would have won too if they didn’t give away those two own goals. Oh well, shit happens.
